Kanpur: A video of Kanpur Commissioner Dr Raj Shekhar is viral on social media. In this video, the divisional commissioner is seen boarding a government bus like a normal passenger. His surprising raid on two different routes appeared sufficient to know the functionality of the city buses.
The condition of the buses was no longer good but what irritated him most was the non-execution of Covid guidelines in these buses. What to say of the passengers even the conductors and drivers were not adhering to the norm of wearing a face mask.
As many as 13 conductors were suspended and 14 drivers were removed with immediate effect. The uniforms are also not put on by them.
The conductors were also caught for ticket complications. The conductor took money from some passengers but did not give them the computerised tickets.
With immediate effect, the commissioner has suspended 13 bus conductors and terminated the service of 14 bus drivers, it has been informed.
Action has also been ordered against the enforcement team for negligence.
The commissioner also found negligence in the maintenance of the buses. For this, the depot ARM has also been given a show-cause notice.
The Commissioner's sudden inspection has stirred the roadways department.
