India: E-rickshaw drivers in Jajmau causing trouble to road users

Kanpur: Nothing irks the vehicle drivers on the road as the e-rickshaws waiting for the passengers do not care a fig for the wrong parking. They surround the space in such a way as others find it difficult to move on.

Such an annoying scene almost occurs every morning and evening on the congested Nai Chungi crossing in the Jajmau area here.

All four sides of the road remain stuffed with e-vehicle and other vehicles during the rush hours. People driving their scooty, bikes or motors prefer the way in lesser rush hours. Noontime remains better to avoid congestion.

The e-rickshaw drivers care least for leaving the vacant side of the road. They are even seen covering enough space of the road during the morning and evening hours.

They do so just to catch immediately the commuters in different directions. But they are always winning the number of all those commuters looking for a bit cheaper fare and service.

However, the reactions are never good in the favour of e-rickshaw wallahs. One said: What irritates us is their wrong parking.

While another stated: They stand at vacant space on the road denying other vehicles a comfortable pass.

Third pointed that they are so fearless as if thinking nothing about the traffic police and fine for wrong parking.
