India: Bridge over Sarsaiyya ghat to cost Rs 400 Crore

Kanpur: Though there is a delay of five long years in giving a signal to the bridge project over the Sarsaiyya Ghat extending up to the Trans-Ganga city on another edge.

According to the available news reports, the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation has eventually transferred the funds worth ₹57.90 lakhs to the Bridge Corporation authorities for the project.

This primary amount for drafting the detailed project report, feasibility report and soil report will be ably used, officials said. 

Reportedly, the authorities have decided that the project will be led by the UPSBC and the 3-kilometre long bridge will now be constructed at an approximate cost of ₹400 crores.

It is being the foundation laying stone of the bridge will be laid prior to Diwali, as news reports maintain.

According to the sources, the scheme to link VIP Road with Barrage-Shuklaganj Road was prepared five years back. It has now been remade to ensure bridge construction. Delay was caused owing to numerous reasons, as has been commented.

A senior official hinted that the planned facility will lessen the length of a 14-km-long journey to nearly 3 to 4 km.This bridge will help vehicles steering towards Lucknow in a shorter time. They will not have to bring in use the longer route passing through Company Bagh and Ganga Barrage.
