India: Kanpur Mayor flays Uddhav Thackeray over his words

Narayan Rane

Kanpur: Mayor and BJP leader Pramila Pandey have filed an FIR (First Information Report) against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for his alleged remarks on Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.

She also said her culture does not allow similar comments against Uddhav Thackeray but if he dares to come to Uttar Pradesh then people in the state will teach him a lesson.

This controversy has erupted over Maharashtra CM's alleged remarks against UP CM in the year 2018. He had reportedly let out that he felt like 'hitting Yogi Adityanath with chappals'.

However, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had on Thursday protected the Maharashtra Chief Minister's comments saying that the statement against Yogi Adityanath was made over disrespect to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The war of words between BJP and Shiv Sena heightened after the arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane in Maharashtra over his alleged derogatory assertion against Thackeray. However, he was soon permitted bail by the local court in Mahad of Raigarh district.
