U.S. congressman warns against new "Cold War"

US China Trade War

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Congressman Mark Green has warned against a new "Cold War" between the United States and China.

In an article recently published in The National Interest, a conservative U.S. magazine, Green wrote that "we must do everything we can to avoid a new cold war -- this time one between the United States and China."

"The United States and China have completely intertwined supply chains, and conflict between the two countries could be devastating for critical sectors of our economy, like the medical and auto industries," the Tennessee Republican stressed.

"Focusing China and the United States on a common goal worked in the past," he continued. "It is our best hope for the future to avoid a new Cold War."

Green also serves on the U.S. House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees.
