Indian PM to meet with Olympic bound athletes on July 13

NEW DELHI, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday reviewed India's Olympic preparations, officials said.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced that Modi will meet with the country's Tokyo-bound athletes on July 13.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed preparations for facilitation of India's contingent at Tokyo 2020. The Prime Minister will also interact with the Olympic-bound athletes on 13th July to wish them luck," reads a statement from PMO.

During the review meeting, Modi discussed the logistical details for the participants, their vaccination status, and the multi-disciplinary support being given.

"On behalf of 1.3 billion Indians, I would be interacting with the Olympics-bound athletes on 13th July to wish them luck. Let us all Cheer for India," the PM wrote on social media.

The Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympics is expected to be around 190, including over 100 athletes.

The Tokyo Olympics is scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8.
