TEHRAN, Jun 3 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, said that, the main issues between Tehran and Washington, in the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna, have been settled.
“Today (yesterday), we are witnessing the resolution of major issues with the United States” in the Vienna talks, aimed at the revival of the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Rouhani said, at a cabinet meeting.
Major economic projects, inaugurated recently and to be opened in the near future in Iran, are “signals” that anti-Iran economic pressures of former U.S. President Donald Trump have failed, the Iranian president noted.
He hailed what he called the “victory” of his administration in the face of challenges caused by the United States, linking them to the patience of the Iranian people, his administration’s prudence and leadership guidance.
On Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and top nuclear negotiator, Abbas Araqchi, said, “good progress” has been made in the Vienna talks.
In May, 2018, Trump pulled Washington out of the JCPOA and unilaterally re-imposed sanctions on Iran. In response, Tehran gradually stopped implementing parts of its JCPOA commitments from May, 2019.
The JCPOA Joint Commission began to meet offline on Apr 6, in Vienna, to continue the discussion of a possible return of the United States to the JCPOA and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the nuclear deal.
