India: NCERT books need to be part of school curriculum

Kanpur: As the new academic session is going to begin from the first week of the month of April, the parents are flocking to the shop for buying the books. The book list is also available at the shop.

As the parents were confident of buying the NCERT books for the main subjects, they learnt of the titles published by private publications.

The disturbed parents said that the price of the NCERT books is always within reach. But private publications are seldom cheaper. Why have school authorities not checked it?

One class VIII mathematics book sells at Rs 400 as the price is mentioned in the list. The NCERT book must not be so costly.

The parents have to ask whether costly books provide knowledge more than books published by the NCERT.

At least math, science, social science, Hindi and English books should not be changed. Why are parents compelled to bear the burden of expensive books?
