India: Aerial survey of work under Namami Gangey Project embarks

Kanpur: Villagers were looking at deep surprise as a helicopter landed in the fields near an engineering college in Sarsaul here on Saturday morning.

It was certainly not docked due to any technical flaw in the engine or any other problem. At first, the rural residents did not understand what actually was the reason for the helicopter's landing.

Soon they came to know of the real matter. This helicopter was making an aerial survey of the Namami Gangey Project across the river Ganga. It covers the limit of 3 Kms on both sides of the river. The survey will be done from Kanpur to Kannauj and up to Farrukhabad. A survey will also be completed from Allahabad to Fatehpur.

It landed on the temporary helipad set up after the permission granted by the district administration. The helipad will be used up till April 15 beginning from March 26. The night parking of the helicopter will be at this helipad.

In the meantime, Narwal SDM Amit Tomar has denied the villagers were panicked  due to the landing of the helicopter. It was just a routine physical survey undertaken along the river.

Following a 15-minute stoppage, the helicopter made its onward journey, as has been reported.
