India: Traders boycott Vyapar Bandhu meeting in absence of officers

Kanpur: Things can go better if everyone is responsible. In a meeting of Vyapar Bandhu held at DM auditorium here on Saturday, several officials did not attend the meeting. As a result, the annoyed traders boycotted the meeting.

After a gap of three months, the meeting was organised to discuss over 17 points. Only 5 points were taken up.

The moment fifth point regarding laying down of underground cable was raised, one junior engineer of KESCO was present.

Though the ADM city did turn up but he had to go and said of returning within 10 minutes. Traders realised when important district officers were not present there was no need to wait. Later the traders moved out of the hall one by one.

Reacting on the tendency, V Gupta, general secretary, Kanpur Udyog Vyapar Mandal, said: Neither ADM nor other officers were  present, what was the use of sitting here?
