India: Development of Govindpuri railway station in Kanpur continues

Kanpur: Second busiest railway station in the city, Govindpuri railway station is required to be redeveloped and many proposals to this effect have already been accepted. Throwing light upon this disclosure, Kanpur Central Station Director Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said Govindpuri railway station has been developing as Terminus Station.

A terminus is a station at the end of a railway line. Trains arriving there have to end its journeys and reverse out of the station. At present, this station is a Junction so long route trains do not stop here.

It will be apt to mention here that railways stations are mainly differentiated into four types viz., Junction, Terminus, Central and a Railway station.

Opened in the year 1921 this railway station was rebuilt in the year 2016. Electrified in the year of 2002 the station finds its improvement now in order to prepare for the 20 lakh passengers of South city.

As transportation of the passengers remains almost negligent on the station in view of the covid pandemic the works go on unhindered. The work to install an electronic indication board for the timings of the train on the station is in progress. Besides, the work over the watering system also proceeds speedily as the report notifies.

There is also a plan to develop the station's circulating area where parking for private and commercial vehicles would be arranged. Along with this, the waiting room will also be furnished on the platform.
