India: Shop owner tells beggar to stand outside store

KANPUR: The shopkeepers are not allowing the beggars to enter their shop in this time of social distancing.

Though it was nothing new for them, they have their own reasons behind this open particular refusal.

They were asking them to wait outside the shop and beseech for alms. One shopkeeper was directing a woman beggar not to enter the shop. But she would ask for money standing outside the shop, he instructed. She at once turned back hearing the voice of the shopkeeper.

What exactly forced them to take a different stand was yet to be assessed but one shopkeeper said that it was a step to avoid any unpleasant experience.

Some kind-hearted people avoid criticizing the beggars for their sad and bad condition while others disdain them.

On Sunday forenoon some of the stores were opened in Jajmau. The shops do not attract enough crowd these days for the customers have developed a penchant for online shopping and also obliged to follow social distancing.
