India: Fasting disciplines the devouts significantly

KANPUR: The holy month of the Ramazan in the city begins tomorrow. There goes a tradition: Begin the fast by seeing the new moon and end it also by seeing the new moon. This is followed in strict words.

It is a one-month experience. The devouts stay without the intake of food and water from dawn to dusk.

When the ninth month of Ramazan starts the Muslims try to exceed their everyday Ibadat in prayers and Quran reciting. Taraweeh is surely the added prayers.

This year's fasting will be different as the devouts would fail to offer prayers at the mosques owing to the clear reason for fear of the deadly virus.

As the fasting is compulsory on every adult devouts, it will be practised with all the humility and devotion by the Muslims throughout the pious month of Ramazan.

Talking to a few Muslim youths, it became clear that they were clear in their minds to follow the religious obligations. "It is definitely an important occasion for self-discipline," stressed they.
