India: Atal Ghat's uneven stairs to be refurbished

Kanpur: With the Prime Minister's visit to the Atal Ghat in the recent days, it has acquired ample attention. The Central government had been providing a fund to maintain as many as 11 ghats in the city. As regards the Atal Ghat project it was built under the Namami Gangey programme by the Engineers India Limited.

It has been revealed that the district administration has decided to reconstruct the technically faulty level of the Ghat. During the careful inspection, it has been found that one of the stairs is uneven in height thereby inflicting complication to the visitors now and then.

Considering the obstacle coming in the way the Divisional Commissioner S M Bobde pointed out that one uneven step would be rebuilt due to its unequal height. Only then the step would be aligned with other steps.

As the width of some of the steps is unalike these will also be repaired, he further said.

The faulty step which put several visitors in stumbling posture is exactly ninth of the third incline towards the Boat Club.
