India: Metro work starts but hinders traffic movement

Kanpur: With the laying of the foundation stone of the metro by the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath here on November 15, the construction of pillar for the metro track has begun from IIT gate. The iron mesh to cover the pillar is also in progress.

For managing the traffic rush on the road in front of IIT the metro company has employed its men to regulate the crowd. The SP (Traffic) Sushil Kumar told that vehicles parked on the road would be removed if required so adding that the policemen would also be posted in case of the demand occurs.

Space on the road was contracted with the start of work and the rush is bound to escalate. If the traffic police start managing the jam, movement on the road would not hamper.

As the area people suggested, the vehicles could move properly if uneven and kutcha roads were repaired in view of the metro work. Parking space also needed to be provided. Widening of the road is also required importantly. Encroachments must be cleared sternly, indicated the people.
