Indian PM Narendra Modi's niece robbed in Delhi

Delhi, 13 Oct 2019, (UMMn): PM Narendra Modi's niece Damayanti Ben Modi got her purse snatched Saturday by two unidentified bike-borne thieves in North Delhi's Civil Lines.

As Damayanti arrived at Civil Lines from Old Delhi Railway Station, the robbers came and snatched her purse after she got down from the auto-rickshaw, police said.

According to NDTV, the incident took place when Damayanti, the daughter of the Prime Minister's brother Prahlad Modi, was alighting from an auto-rickshaw outside the gates of Gujarati Samaj Bhavan in Civil Lines.

The crime spot is just a few kilometres away from the residences of Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Prahlad Modi has expressed concerns about the security of his family.

According to India Today, in the month of September, Delhi saw 130 robberies, 420 snatchings, 40 murders, 35 attempts to murder, 160 rapes, 200 molestations, 450 kidnappings, 200 burglaries, 150 house thefts and 3,400 motor vehicle thefts.
