Rohtak, Haryana: Honour killing victim Mamta has been created in presence of security personnel. Cremation was organised by Mahila Ayog, and took place in Rohtak.
Murdered girl’s parents and in-laws were not present during cremation, and have earlier refused to take the dead body to their homes.
According to Haryana police, Mamta’s parents organised the honour killing because she married a boy named Soni, who was outside of their caste. They hired professional killers from Uttar Pradesh, and paid Rs 7 lakh to kill their daughter, while Mamta’s maternal brother Mohit planed the murder.
It is alleged that Mamta and a Police Sub-inspector Narendra were killed on 8 August 18, in front of Rohtak lower court. Sub-inspector Narendra was escorting Mamta for a court hearing.
According to Punjab Kesari, Mamta’s mother Sarita and father Ramesh, her adopted mother Krishna and father Ramesh have been arrested.
