India: BSP prepares to fight Govindnagar assembly by-poll

Kanpur: In view of the assembly by-election of Govindnagar seat here, the Bahujan Samaj Party has not only declared its candidate for the seat but also effected certain important changes in its Mahanagar unit.

Amidst the guesses and calculations, the BSP has declared the name of its chosen candidate. Though other candidates' name had also announced with this candidate.

As was considered for the past months that the ticket will be given to the candidate who is a dedicated worker of the party, this has been proved correct when the name came to the public view. With this announcement, the party will contest the by-polls. Devi Prasad Tiwari has been given the ticket from the Govindnagar assembly seat. Naushad Ali has got a ticket from Hamirpur seat. It is for the first time the party has decided to fight the bypoll from the seat. However, what surprised the workers was a change of guard at the party's Mahanagar unit.

According to the news sources, Harinarayan Kushwaha has been appointed the president of the unit. A letter to this effect has also been issued by the party's district chief. There was a flutter among the workers behind the reason to change the office-bearer prior to the by-poll.
