Kanpur: Tension has become visible over 'some matter' between Mahendra Shukla, BJP Corporators' Dal deputy leader and the City Mayor Pramila Pandey. What has caused a sensation was an allegation by Mahendra Shukla that he feared of his murder. He alleged that his life was in danger from the mayor's son.
Reacting on the allegation the Mayor said were I and my son Bunty criminals? Was there any registered case? Was it wrong if her son would walk with his friends? He should prove it. Why will he be murdered? My son approached me to meet like the lady Corporators' husband used to come. He was also invited at the meeting of the party' senior Corporators.
In his letter sent to the Mayor, the deputy leader maintained that corruption was at its zenith at the Nagar Nigam. Problems were not being solved. The officers were allegedly putting the graft charge upon me. He further added that the contractors' files were not cleared on time thereby causing a delay in payments. He also alleged of her son put the charge against me of extracting payments by making forged files.
A probe should be initiated, he demanded. It was not possible to work under his direction. He expressed that he was ready to leave the deputy leadership post in such an unfavourable condition.
