India: Jajmau lacks amenities despite politicians' presence

Kanpur: What Jajmau lacks the most is obviously the civic amenities in its inhabited localities. Some areas are very old while there are newly inhabited areas too. Both types of areas are presenting dirty sites, potholed or broken roads and crowds.

The residents are regularly complaining of garbage spread at different spots. The roads are not up to the mark. The rains have exposed the worse condition. Muck and water-logging cannot be avoided.

Besides, the famous Lal Bungalow Bazar presents the scary scene of a crowd in the afternoon from one end to another. What soothes people's heart is the road within the Cantt jurisdiction. The lined trees on both the sides of the road are another perfect attraction.

This appears odd when the area is housed by not one but many political heavyweights of different parties in Jajmau, Tannery Town. The residents have one thing to say. Their only grudge remains that they do not care about the people's woes.

One resident criticising the Cantt area legislature said nothing had been done by him so far. He did not care to see the poor condition of the roads in his constituency. Another popular leader of the Congress party though he lost his MP seat in the election, seldom looks at the poor condition of the locality just near his house. Further, the BJP leader also not appears to be that much caring for the common people.

The residents feel if the politicians residing in and around the area should care, there would not be any problem. As Jajmau is a tannery town it sends enough tax to the state exchequer, but the residents are denied civic facilities.
