India: Panki Industrial area still lack civic facilities

KANPUR: For the past several long years Panki Industrial Area faces civic problems due to apathy of the officers concerned. It is divided into five respective sites with as many as 1270 industries. When there exists no proper arrangement for disposal of Industrial wastes, this area remains afflicted with bad roads, water-logging and garbage.

There has not been deployed safai workers in the area. Though the municipal corporation collects big amounts of money in the name of house tax annually. According to the rule sixty percent of this amount has to be spent on this area.

Alok Agarwal, president of Indian Industries Association, Kanpur Chapter,  said the issues related with civic amenities are discussed at the meeting with the officers. Even directives are also issued but there appears no end to the problems. Even KESCo does not care of trees falling on the electricity lines causing disruption in  power supply for more than forty hours. As regards the condition of the parks here,  it is also worse. No cleanliness and water-logging keep the park untreadable.

Clearing its stand the Nagar Nigam says the Panki industrial sites have not been brought under its jurisdiction so far. Its transfer has not been completed. The Nigam has been waiting for laying of drainage system in the area.

Whatever complaints are raised in the meeting of Udyog Bandhu, these are disposed of quickly. There are still problems which are being attended, maintained the Nagar Ayukt SC Sharma.
