BELGOROD, November 20./TASS/: More than 10,000 residents of the Belgorod Region’s areas bordering on Ukraine have been evacuated to safety since February 24, 2022, the region’s deputy governor Andrey Milekhin said.
About 270 people have been wounded and 60 local residents have been killed, Milekhin told a meeting of the parliamentary commission probing Kiev’s crimes against children.
"More than 10,000 people have already been displaced since the beginning of the special military operation, and 273 people have received wounds of various severity. To date, 60 residents of the Belgorod Region have been killed in shelling, with three children among them," Milekhin said. According to him, 22 children have been injured by Ukrainian troops since February 2022.
"The most tense situation is in seven border municipalities and in the region’s capital city, Belgorod. The residents of Shebekino, which has seen the largest number of attacks, are a model of courage and staunchness," the minister stressed. Despite the attacks, restoration work is underway in the city, "new houses are being built in place of the destroyed ones," the deputy governor noted.
Over 8,000 houses, about 1,500 vehicles, 191 facilities of healthcare, education, sports and culture, more than 1,000 critical infrastructure facilities, almost 1,000 kilometers of roads and rail tracks have been damaged in the Belgorod Region since the start of the special military operation, Milekhin said citing official data from the Russian Investigative Committee’s investigation department for the region.
