SYDNEY, Sept 26 (NNN-AAP) – Police in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW), confirmed today that, a man has been arrested, after an overnight shooting in the city of Lake Macquarie, which injured two people, last week.
According to NSW Police Force, at about 12:45 p.m. local time yesterday, a 31-year-old man was arrested in Wallsend, a western suburb of Newcastle.
Police also located two firearms during the execution of a search warrant, which were seized for further forensic examination.
The man was charged with multiple offences, including shooting with an intent to murder, possessing and using unauthorised firearms, as well as, discharging a firearm or other loaded arms with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police said that, he was refused bail and would appear in a local court today.
At about 2:20 a.m. local time on Sept 21, emergency services were called to Cassia Crescent in Gateshead, a suburb in the city of Lake Macquarie.
Upon arrival, officers found a 42-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman suffering gunshot wounds. They were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in stable conditions.
