DAMASCUS, Mar 12 (NNN-SANA) – Syrian and Russian Coordination committees, on the Return of Syrian Refugees, affirmed yesterday that the US continues to strangle the Syrian people, economically, by using various methods of economic and political pressure on international bodies and organisations, to turn a blind eye to the dangerous repercussions of the sanctions imposed on Syria.

US deploys troops, military equipment to eastern Syria

08 Mar 2021; MEMO: The US army has deployed additional soldiers and military equipment to north-eastern Syria, SANA news agency reported.

The Syrian state-run agency said four US army planes, including two helicopters, landed at noon yesterday inside the US army base in the city of Ash Shaddadi, near Al-Hasakah having travelled from Iraq.

The agency pointed out that the helicopters carried American soldiers and 20 wooden boxes containing thermal missiles.

Syria: Over 282,000 displaced people return home following Idlib ceasefire

06 Mar 2021; MEMO: Due to the relative calm in Idlib since 5 March, 2020, over 282,000 displaced Syrians have returned to their homes in the area, Anadolu Agency reported on Friday.

On 5 March, 2020, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached a ceasefire in Idlib that took effect on 6 March, 2020.

Russia withdraws from suburbs of Syria's Idlib

02 Mar 2021; MEMO: Russia has withdrawn its forces from the city of Saraqib in the suburbs of Idlib, northern Syria, without announcing any plan to do so, local media outlets reported.

The Orient Net website quoted "unnamed" sources as saying that the Russian forces "suddenly" withdrew from the city of Saraqib towards the city of Maarat Al-Numan, and from there to the Hama military airport, which is a Russian base in the area.

Israel attacks vicinity of Syrian capital

DAMASCUS, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- A fresh Israeli missile attack targeted positions in the vicinity of the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday night, state TV reported.

Citing a military source, the Israeli attack was launched from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, said the report. It added that the Syrian air defenses responded to the attack, destroying most of the missiles.

Residents in the capital watched the air defenses' firing while tracing the Israeli targets in the sky amid sound of explosions.

Biden orders strike on Iran sites in Syria

26 Feb 2021; MEMO: President Joe Biden yesterday directed US military air strikes in eastern Syria against facilities belonging to what the Pentagon said were Iran-backed militia, in a calibrated response to rocket attacks against US targets in Iraq, Reuters reported.

The strikes appeared to be limited in scope, potentially lowering the risk of escalation.

US Occupation Brings In Military Vehicles, Logistic Materials To Syria’s Hasaka Countryside

HASAKA, Feb 24 (NNN-SANA) – To support their illegitimate bases, the U.S. occupation forces, brought in yesterday, military armoured vehicles and logistic materials to Rmeilan, in Hasaka countryside, coming from northern Iraq.

Local sources in Assweidyah village, in the north-east countryside of Hasaka, told reporters that, a convey of 40 tankers and vehicles, entered at 12.00 p.m. today (yesterday), from the north of Iraq, with 20 military armoured vehicles, logistic materials and equipment, and headed for  their illegitimate base in Rmeilan.

Russian military hands over foodstuffs to Syrian residents near Aleppo

ALEPPO /Syria/, February 21. /TASS/: Russian servicemen have distributed 250 food packages to the residents of Syria’s Shukaidila village, in the Aleppo Governorate, Spokesman for the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring in Syria Dmitry Zadorin reported on Sunday.

Many residents of this village have been involved in clashes with the militants who are still nearby, he told reporters.
