JUNIPER HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Strong afternoon winds intensified a wildfire burning for nearly two weeks in mountains northeast of Los Angeles, prompting authorities to issue new evacuation orders Saturday for desert communities that lost some homes a day earlier.

Meanwhile, officials were investigating the death of a firefighter on the lines of another Southern California wildfire that erupted earlier this month from a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device used by a couple to reveal their baby’s gender.

JUNIPER HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Homes were destroyed Friday by an unrelenting wildfire that reached a Mojave Desert community and was still growing on several fronts after burning for nearly two weeks in mountains northeast of Los Angeles.

Officials were investigating the death of a firefighter on the lines of another Southern California wildfire that erupted earlier this month from a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device used by a couple to reveal their baby’s gender.

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Video-sharing social networking company TikTok said on Monday that it had submitted a proposal to the U.S. administration to resolve its "security concerns."

"We can confirm that we've submitted a proposal to the Treasury Department which we believe would resolve the Administration's security concerns," the Los Angeles-based company said in a short statement, adding this step would help to continue the company's operation in the future.

LOS ANGELES, Sept 14 (NNN-Xinhua) — A 100,000-U.S.-dollar reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect who shot two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies Saturday night, authorities said.
