HARARE, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- BRICS has become attractive to developing nations and is fostering development based on fairness and transparency in global trade practices, a senior Zimbabwean official told Xinhua in a recent interview.

HARARE, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Going to bed and waking up in darkness had become the norm for Zimbabweans as the country endured rolling blackouts due to depressed power generation.

But now, according to Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the country is now energy sufficient following the completion of a China-funded expansion of the Hwange Power Station, the country's largest thermal power plant.

HARARE, July 5 (NNN-XINHUA) — Zimbabwe announced on Tuesday the end of power cuts the country has experienced since last December following the rehabilitation of Hwange Thermal Power Station, the country’s largest coal-fired power plant, implemented by a Chinese firm.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told a press briefing that the country’s power supply situation has vastly improved after the completion of the upgrading of Hwange Unit 7 and 8 by Chinese firm Sinohydro.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Pauline Hungwe huddled in the bathroom of her apartment in Sudan, terrified and only peeking out of a window for a second to see the walls of nearby buildings disintegrate as they were hit by artillery fire.

She was convinced her building was next and she was going to die. The only thing she thought to do was call her son back home in Zimbabwe.

“I thought I was done,” she said. “I told my son, ‘I am gone.’”

HARARE, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has gazetted the delimitation report presented to him by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), which sets new boundaries for constituencies and wards for the 2023 harmonized elections due sometime between July and August.

Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana said on Tuesday via the social media platform Twitter that the new delimitated constituencies and wards have been gazetted.

HARARE, Jan 20 (NNN-IRIN) – Zimbabwe’s exports of manufactured or valued added products, increased 13 percent to 334 million U.S. dollars, in the first 11 months of 2022, compared to 295 million U.S. dollars during the same period in 2021, trade promotion body ZimTrade said yesterday.

Zimbabwe has been on a drive to ensure that extractors of raw materials beneficiate them, before exporting, so that the country earns more foreign currency.

Recently, the country banned the exportation of raw lithium ore, pushing miners to install processing plants.

HARARE, Dec 25 (NNN-XINHUA ) – Zimbabwe and China have renewed their extradition treaty with effect from Dec 23, 2022, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister, Kazembe Kazembe, said.

The two countries first signed the treaty in 2018. Under the treaty, each country undertakes to extradite to the other, those found in its territory and wanted by the other country for trial on criminal charges, for a crime common to both countries, or to serve their sentence, if they have already been tried, the Herald newspaper reported, yesterday.

HARARE, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- A group of 10 medical workers graduated from a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture personnel training course here on Monday, becoming Zimbabwe's first medical workers to complete such training.

The training program of over four months, held at the TCM and Acupuncture Center at the Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare, comprised of theory and practice, and included basic operation of acupuncture and moxibustion as well as diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
