CARACAS, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly (ANC) announced on Monday that it will designate a commission to mull over a date for the next parliamentary elections.

ANC President Diosdado Cabello said the commission's aim is "to evaluate, according to the law, according to the Constitution, according to the political situation of our country, with consultations to all agencies, the people, the street as to when is the best time to hold these elections."

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — The United States often takes a leading role in calling out the world’s most dangerous places, warning its people about the risks of traveling to countries that are at war, under terrorist threats, experiencing civil unrest or displaying significant anti-American sentiment.

The latest mass shootings have triggered a sharp role reversal, with three countries warning their citizens about the risks of traveling to the U.S.

CARACAS, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez on Wednesday denounced the detaining of a ship headed to Venezuela with primary materials for food production.

The ship was stopped at the Panama Canal.

"Venezuela is denouncing to the world that, right now, a ship carrying 25,000 tons of soybean meal for food production in our country is currently being detained in the Panama Canal," Rodriguez said on Twitter.

CARACAS, July 27. /TASS/: Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has expressed gratitude to specialists from Russia, China, India and Turkey for assisting in developing and restructuring the Latin American country's economy.

"I thank for all the assistance provided to us by China, for advice from experts who help us implement our economic program. I thank Russian experts who maintain a dilaogue and consultations with us. I also thank experts from India, Turkey," Maduro said in a speech broadcast on Periscope.

CARACAS, July 26. /TASS/: The Constitutional Chamber of the Venezuelan Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the country's parliament to rejoin the Inter-American Treaty on Reciprocal Assistance (Rio Treaty).

"The court rules the decision of the legislature to rejoin the Inter-American Treaty on Reciprocal Assistance is null and does not have any legal force as it threatens the rule of law in the country," judge Juan Jose Mendoza said at a session broadcast on Twitter.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — The lights went out across much of Venezuela, reviving fears of the blackouts that plunged the country into chaos a few months ago as the government once again accused opponents of sabotaging the nation’s hydroelectric power system.

The power in the capital went out after 4 p.m. (2000 GMT) Monday and immediately backed up traffic as stop lights and the subway stopped working during rush hour. As night fell in Caracas many were wondering how long they would be left in the dark.

CARACAS, July 21. /TASS/: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Sunday that the topic of top-level contacts between Russia and Venezuela was discussed at consultations in Caracas.

"We discussed the schedule of future contacts. The topic of top-level contacts was discussed as well," Ryabkov told reporters when asked  about whether Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s possible visit to Russia was considered. The Russian diplomat said that it is too early to speak about concrete agreements or dates.

Tehran, July 21, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro reviewed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interests.

Zarif arrived in Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela on Saturday to attend Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers' meeting.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said Zarif is scheduled to hold talks with Venezuelan officials including Foreign Minister and speaker of Venezuela's parliament.
