Turkiye, UAE ink memorandum of cooperation on space tech

14 July 2022; MEMO: The Turkish and the United Arab Emirates Space Agencies signed a memorandum of cooperation on the "peaceful use of space, space science, technology and applications, Anadolu News Agency reports.

According to the report, the signing ceremony was attended by Turkish Industry and Technology Minister, Mustafa Varank and his Emirati counterpart, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, as well as several other high-level officials.

Russian, Ukrainian militaries set to discuss grain exports

ISTANBUL (AP) — Military officials from Russia and Ukraine were set to hold their governments’ first face-to-face talks in months Wednesday during a session in Istanbul devoted to a United Nations plan to export blocked Ukrainian grain to world markets through the Black Sea.

Turkish military officials and U.N. representatives also planned to participate in the discussion focused on finding a way to get millions of tons of grain sitting in silos amid the war in Ukraine shipped out of the country’s ports toward the Mediterranean.

'We will not forget', Turkish first lady says on 27th anniversary of Srebrenica genocide

11 July 2022; MEMO: It was humanity, conscience, and compassion that was buried in Srebrenica 27 years ago, Turkey's first lady said on Monday, the 27th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, Anadolu Agency reports.

"We will not forget either the cry of the Bosniak mothers nor the children who watched the murderous expulsion of their fathers. I commemorate our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the genocide with mercy," Emine Erdogan said.

Ukraine to summon Turkey envoy after Russian grain ship sailed

ISTANBUL, July 7 (Reuters) - Ukraine will summon Turkey's ambassador to seek clarification, its foreign ministry said on Thursday, a day after a Russian-flagged cargo ship suspected of carrying stolen Ukrainian grain left a Turkish port.

The dispute comes at a time of record food prices globally, as conflict in Ukraine, the world's largest grain supplier, has fuelled concerns about food security.

Turkish, Somali presidents discuss regional security, humanitarian aid

ANKARA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Erdogan met on Wednesday with his visiting Somalian counterpart Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in the capital Ankara to discuss regional security and humanitarian aid to the African country.

In a joint press conference after their meeting, the Turkish president stressed the importance of Somalia's stability and security for the whole African horn, noting Turkey will continue to stand with Somalia in the international arena.

Turkey seeks approval to join Svalbard Treaty, furthering interests in Arctic region

06 July 2022; MEMO: Turkiye has decided to join the Svalbard Treaty, in a move which could advance the country's polar ambitions and access to the Arctic region.

According to the Turkish newspaper, Hurriyet Daily News, the Bill to become a party to the Svalbard Treaty has been signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, officially making the country an applicant to the treaty.

Malaysian PM Arrives In Turkiye For Four-Day Official Visit

ISTANBUL, July 5 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived here Tuesday for a four-day official visit to Turkiye (picture).

The special aircraft carrying Ismail Sabri and his delegation touched down at the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISGIA) at 8.40 am local time (1.40 pm Malaysian time).
