Over 150 Indian Companies Invest US$3 Billion In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (NNN-Bernama) — Over 150 Indian companies have invested US$3 billion in Malaysia and contributed to the creation of over 20,000 jobs in the country.

India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia B.N. Reddy said on the other hand, there was a good presence of Malaysian companies in India which have invested US$7 billion both directly and also through third countries.

Indian businesses are involved in various sectors in Malaysia such as ICT, biotechnology, manufacturing, and financial services.

Omicron Wave Has Started In Malaysia – Health Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (NNN-Bernama) — The Omicron wave has begun in Malaysia and the number of COVID-19 cases in the country is expected to rise, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said the situation, however, will be under control as the country has a high vaccination rate.

“The healthcare system is prepared. Serious cases are declining. Let us overcome this wave together,” he tweeted.

Former Malaysian PM Mahathir in stable condition in hospital

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Malaysia's former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad is in a stable condition after undergoing treatment at the National Heart Institute, his daughter said in a statement on Saturday.

Marina Mahathir said her 96-year-old father had been readmitted to hospital and has undergone two days of treatment following an elective medical procedure in early January.

"Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali (his wife) and family ask for the people to pray for his speedy and full recovery," Marina said.

Joint Business Council Proposed To Explore Trade And Investment Opportunities With India

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (NNN-Bernama) — The ASEAN India Business Council (AIBC) is willing to work with business organisations in Malaysia to form a joint business council (JBC) that could provide a unified platform to explore trade and investment opportunities with India, said AIBC co-chairman Ramesh Kodammal.

Though there is the ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement (AIFTA) and Malaysia-India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (MICECA), the awareness on how they could be tapped to expand trade between Malaysia and India is still low.

Malaysia Wants To Continue Cooperation On Climate Change Agenda With D-8 Countries

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia has expressed its intention to continue regional cooperation and smart partnerships on the climate change agenda among policymakers, scientists, private sector and agro community of the D-8 countries.

Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Ronald Kiandee said Malaysia also shared on specific strategies taken to support the climate change agenda including encouraging the use of technology and automation in smart farming approaches and creating a conducive ecosystem for industry.

97.8 Per Cent Of Adult Population In Malaysia Fully Vaccinated

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 (NNN-Bernama) — Some 97.8 per cent of the adult population in the country, or 22,893,234 individuals, have completed their COVID-19 vaccination as of Wednesday.

Based on the Health Ministry’s COVIDNOW portal, 99 per cent or 23,175,181 individuals of the adult population have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
