Malaysian King expresses regret, disappointment over US veto of UNFC draft resolution on Gaza ceasefire

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Monday expressed regret and disappointment over the United States’ (US) use of its veto power to reject the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) draft resolution urging a ceasefire between the Zionist Israeli regime and Palestine.

Malaysia: Israel’s threat against WHO is neither acceptable nor defensible

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Dec 6 (NNN-Bernama) — Israel’s recent order for the World Health Organisation (WHO) to remove its supplies from the medical warehouse in southern Gaza within 24 hours as the regime continues its offensive ground operations is blatantly inhumane and violates international law, said Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry.

In a statement Wednesday, it said threatening a United Nations (UN) body, especially one that provides crucial life-saving aid to victims of the conflict, is neither acceptable nor defensible.

Malaysian Hotel Industry Optimistic On Increased Chinese Tourists Over Visa-Free Facility

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (NNN-BERNAMA) – The recent opening of a 30-day visa-free facility for Chinese nationals, is expected to see Malaysia receive an uptick in inbound Chinese tourists, the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) said, yesterday.

China is a lucrative market and a significant contributor to Malaysia’s tourism receipts and arrivals, the association said in a statement.

“It is hoped that with this exemption in place, we are able to gain the momentum needed to cement Malaysia’s standing, as the preferred destination for this discerning market,” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia’s economic growth will be affected should the Palestine-Israel conflict escalate further into a conflict involving Arab countries in the region, the Economy Ministry said.

If the scale of the conflict widened, it would have a significant impact, especially in terms of rising oil prices and trade supply chain disruption, the ministry said.

Malaysia To Open 30-Day Visa Free Travel For Chinese Citizens

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia will grant 30-day visa-free travel for Chinese citizens, starting Dec 1 this year, Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, announced yesterday.

This move is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China next year, Anwar said in his remarks, at the annual congress of Parti Keadilan Rakyat, of which he is president.

Malaysia has implemented 16 FTAs, 62 bilateral IGAs to date

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysia has implemented 16 free trade agreements (FTAs) and 62 bilateral investment guarantee agreements (IGAs) to date, said Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said Malaysia is currently negotiating new FTAs such as the Malaysia-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Economic Partnership Agreement (MEEPA), an economic partnership agreement between Malaysia and EFTA members including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. This has been under negotiation since 2014.

Malaysian Gov’t Warns At-Risk Communities To Brace For Floods

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Heavy rain and flooding are expected in Peninsula Malaysia’s east coast states of Kelantan and Terengganu, in the coming days, with authorities yesterday, warning those at risk, to take precautions.

Those in high-risk areas have also been asked to comply with instructions from the authorities, as federal disaster relief agencies take steps to prepare for severe continuous rains, Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in a statement.
