Libya GNA slams Haftar air strikes on Tripoli as war crime

03 Dec 2019; MEMO: The internationally recognised Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) has condemned air strikes launched by forces loyal to retired Major General Khalifa Haftar on the capital Tripoli saying they are “tantamount to war crimes”.

“These criminal and terrorist acts will not pass without a severe response on the battlefields,” the GNA said in a statement.

Sudan militias move to Libya to support Haftar’s forces

25 Nov 2019; MEMO: Sudanese militias who make up part of the Sudan Liberation Front headed to Libya in support for the forces of Brigadier General Khalifa Haftar, Arabi21 reported yesterday.

The news site said that it obtained an exclusive video showing the Sudanese militias moving from the city of Bani Walid to the city of Tarhouna.

62 illegal immigrants deported by Libya

TRIPOLI, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Immigration Control Department in the eastern city of Benghazi on Sunday announced the deportation of 62 illegal immigrants to Chad and Sudan.

The immigrants were deported by land through the southern borders with Chad and Sudan, the department said in a statement.

The International Organization for Migration recently said that Libya has more than 650,000 illegal immigrants with 6,000 of them, including women and children, being held in detention centers.

Nearly 200 illegal immigrants deported from Libya

TRIPOLI, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Immigration Control Department in the eastern city of Benghazi on Saturday announced the deportation of almost 200 illegal immigrants to Egypt.

The Illegal Immigration Control Department of Benghazi deported 194 Egyptian immigrants to their country, the department said in a statement.

Without any official identification documents, the deported immigrants had infectious diseases, said the statement.

TRIPOLI, Nov 10 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Libya’s Immigration Control Department, in the eastern city of Benghazi, on Saturday announced the deportation of almost 200 illegal immigrants to Egypt.

The Illegal Immigration Control Department of Benghazi, deported 194 Egyptian immigrants to their country, the department said in a statement.

Without any official identification documents, the deported immigrants had infectious diseases, said the statement.

Libya: Haftar forces attack airport in Tripoli

4 Nov 2019; MEMO: Libya’s Mitiga international airport in Tripoli was hit by an airstrike Sunday, Anadolu reports.

Mustafa el-Mecei, the spokesman for the Government of National Accord (GNA) Burkan al-Ghadab (Volcano of Rage) military operation, told Anadolu Agency warplanes that targeted the airport four times were flown by forces loyal to Gen. Khalifa Haftar.

El-Mecei did not provide information about damage at the airport due to the attack.

Libya: Arrest warrants issued for Haftar, 3 commanders

22 Oct 2019; MEMO: A Libyan military prosecutor has ordered the arrest of General Khalifa Haftar and three other retired commanders, as reported by Anadolu Agency. 

According to a statement by the military chief prosecutor’s office, Haftar and three retired commanders were accused of commanding a Russian group that carried out kidnappings and murders in September.

More than 100 illegal immigrants deported from Libya

TRIPOLI, Oct 15 (NNN-Xinhua) — Libya’s Immigration Control Department in the eastern city of Benghazi on Monday announced the deportation of more than 100 illegal immigrants to Egypt and Nigeria.

The department said that 98 immigrants of Egyptian nationality were deported from Benghazi to Egypt, and 13 Nigerian immigrants to their country.

The International Organization for Migration said that there are more than 650,000 illegal immigrants in Libya and about 6,000 of them are being held in detention centers, including women and children.
