India: RSS worker hacked to death in Kerala

Palakkad (Ker), Apr 16 (PTI) An RSS worker was hacked to death by a gang here on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Srinivasan, 45, was attacked by a group of assailants at his shop in the heart of Palakkad town.

The suspects reportedly arrived at the spot on motorbikes. The victim was immediately shifted to a private hospital but could not be saved, they said.

The incident occurred less than 24 hours after a Popular Front of India (PFI) leader was killed in a village near here.

India: PFI activist hacked to death in Kerala

Palakkad (Ker), Apr 15 (PTI) A 43-year old man was allegedly hacked to death in Kerala's Palakkad district on Friday.

Subair, a local leader of the Islamist outfit Popular Front of India, was hacked to death at Elappully in the district on Friday afternoon, police said.

He was allegedly hit by a car while on a bike and attacked using sharp-edged weapons.

The incident occurred when he was returning home after offering prayers in a nearby mosque.

India: Yechury re-elected as CPI(M) General Secy

Kannur(Ker), Apr 10 (PTI) Senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury was re-elected as the General Secretary of the party for the third consecutive time here on Sunday.

Speaking to the delegates after being re-elected to the top post at CPI(M)'s 23rd Party Congress, Yechury said the principal task of the party was to isolate and defeat the BJP, which is pursuing the Hindutva communal agenda of the fascistic RSS.

India: Two-day strike affects normal life in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram/ Kochi, Mar 28 (PTI) The two-day nationwide strike called by a joint forum of central trade unions began in Kerala on Monday with almost all institutions downing their shutters.

The joint forum has given a call for a nationwide strike on March 28 and 29, to protest against government policies affecting workers, farmers, and people.

India: CPI(M) worker hacked to death in Kerala, allegedly by RSS workers

Kannur (Ker), Feb 21 (PTI) After a brief lull, violence has reared its ugly head in Kerala's politically sensitive Kannur district with the killing of a CPI(M) activist in a coastal village here early on Monday.

Haridasan, a fisherman, was allegedly attacked by a gang of assailants in front of his house at Punnol near New Mahe at around 1.30 AM while he was returning home after work, they said.

The 54-year old was rushed to a hospital in Thalassery by the neighbours who reached the spot hearing the sound but died on the way, police said.

Kerala's first Caravan Park to come up in Vagamon

Thiruvananthpuram, Feb 17 (PTI) Kerala's first Caravan park is all set to come up in Vagamon, a scenic hill station located in Idukki district.

The park, as part of the state government's new Caravan Tourism policy, would be thrown open to travellers on February 25, state Tourism Minister P A Mohammad Riyas said on Thursday.

He said Caravan Tourism was introduced by the state Tourism department as a safe means for holidaying at a time when people are unable to step out or travel due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

India: RSS worker stabbed in Kerala

Alappuzha, Feb 17 (PTI) A young RSS worker was stabbed to death in Haripad area of Alappuzha district following an argument at a nearby temple, where he had gone to perform a 'thalam' dance, police said on Thursday.

Three people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident and that the post mortem and inquest proceedings are yet to get over.

Reacting to the killing, BJP state president K Surendran told reporters in Thrissur that the victim was an RSS worker and he was mercilessly stabbed to death by members of a drug mafia.

India: Kerala CM leaves for the US for treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 15 (PTI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday left for the United States of America for a two-week long medical treatment.

The CM is accompanied by his wife and personal assistant.

The Chief Minister did not hand over charge to anyone in the ministry. According to CMO sources, Vijayan will continue to discharge his official duties online.

He will return to the state on January 29.

In 2018, he had undergone treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, US.
