Israeli soldier has ‘no regret’ for killing Palestinian

JERUSALEM; 29 Aug 2018; AA: A former Israeli soldier who shot dead an injured Palestinian said that he has “no regret” for his action.

“I know what I have done was right, and I go with it all the way with my head up,” Elor Azaria said in an interview with Israel Hayoum newspaper, excerpts of which were released on Wednesday.

"I do not regret it,” he said “and if time goes back to that moment in Hebron. I will do exactly what I did, because it was the right thing to do.”

Arab MKs seek to take Jewish ‘nation-state’ law to UN

JERUSALEM; 27 Aug 2018; AA: Arab members of Knesset (Israel’s parliament) are seeking UN censure of Israel over a recent law recognizing Israel as the “nation-state of the Jewish people”, The Jerusalem Post daily reported.

“The Palestinian delegation, in cooperation with Knesset members from the Arab parties, is planning steps aimed at smearing Israel and damaging its image through incitement and lies,” Israel’s ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said.

Israel reopens Gaza's main cargo crossing

JERUSALEM, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel reopens Gaza's main cargo crossing on Wednesday morning, a week after it was closed amidst a flare-up of violence.

The opening of the Kerem Shalom crossing after nearly two weeks was decided by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and the Chief of General Staff Gadi Eisenkot, the military said in a statement.

"The Kerem Shalom crossing will be re-opened this morning for full activity," the statement read, adding that the fishing zone off the Gaza Strip will also be expanded to nine nautical miles (16.6 km).

Fresh tension as Israel reimposes Gaza fuel blockade

2 Aug 2018; AFP; Israel reimposed a blockade on fuel deliveries to Gaza on Thursday citing a resurgence in kites carrying firebombs over the border and signalling a brief pause in tensions may be ending.

After two deadly military flare-ups in the Gaza Strip and a ceasefire brokered by Egypt and UN officials last month, the number of firebombs being launched over the border to burn Israeli farmland had diminished.

Israel releases Palestinian teen jailed for slapping soldiers

29 July 2018; AFP; Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi was released from prison Sunday after serving eight months for slapping two Israeli soldiers, an episode captured on video that made her a symbol of resistance for Palestinians.

Tamimi, 17, and her mother Nariman arrived in their village of Nabi Saleh in the occupied West Bank, where they were met by crowds of supporters and journalists.

"The resistance continues until the fall of the occupation, and of course the (female) prisoners in jail are all strong," Ahed Tamimi said, her voice barely audible above the crowd.

PALESTINIAN BOY KILLED BY ISRAELI FORCES IN WEST BANK REFUGEE CAMP

BETHLEHEM/JERUSALEM, July 24 (NNN-XINHUA) - A Palestinian boy was killed by Israeli gun fire, on Monday, after an Israeli military raid into the Dheisheh Refugee Camp, in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem.

The Palestinian boy, identified as 15-year-old Arkan Mezher, was shot in the chest and heart, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Two were injured and at least three others were arrested, during the military raid into the camp, as young Palestinians clashed with Israeli forces, said Palestinian sources.

Benjamin Netanyahu wants Jewish-only bill passed

Israel’s ruling Likud party seeks to pass an Apartheid type legislation that will allow for Jewish-only communities in Israel.

According to The Guardian, “The proposed legislation would allow the state to “authorise a community composed of people having the same faith and nationality to maintain the exclusive character of that community”.

“In its current state, the draft would also permit Jewish religious law to be implemented in certain cases and remove Arabic as an official language.

Israel to bulldoze Khan al-Ahmar village

According to Xinhua, a Chinese English newspaper, “Israeli security forces clash with demonstrators protesting against the demolition in the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar in East Jerusalem, on July 4, 2018.”

“On May 24, the Israeli High Court reached a verdict to raze the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar in East Jerusalem, where 200 homes and community structures are slated for demolition.”, reported Xinhua.
