New Delhi, Mar 21 (PTI) A systematic effort is underway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cripple the Congress financially, Sonia Gandhi alleged on Thursday as her party stepped up its demand for access to its bank accounts to ensure a level playing field in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.

Imran Khan approaches Supreme Court; seeks judicial commission probe into Feb polls

Islamabad, Mar 20 (PTI) Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court to form a judicial commission comprising serving judges to probe the authenticity of last month's elections marred by allegations of rigging.

The general elections were held on February 8 but Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf refused to accept the outcome by alleging that the results were manipulated.

Man gets 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping minor daughter in UP’s Bahraich

Bahraich (UP), Mar 20 (PTI) A special court here on Wednesday sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment after convicting him in a case of kidnapping and rape of a minor girl, a lawyer said.

Special government advocate Sant Pratap Singh said the father of the minor had lodged an FIR against the accused, Mahesh, at the Nanpara police station on May 4, 2013.

Pakistan-IMF reach staff-level agreement on releasing last tranche of USD 3 billion bailout

Islamabad/Washington, Mar 20 (PTI) The IMF on Wednesday said it has reached a staff-level agreement with the new government in cash-strapped Pakistan on the final review of a USD 3 billion bailout, paving the way for the release of the last USD 1.1 billion tranche from the global lender.

The agreement, however, is subject to the approval of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to be held in April.

New Delhi, Mar 19 (PTI) Asserting that the country is seeking a change, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said the 'guarantees' touted by the present government would meet the same fate as the 'India Shining' slogan of 2004.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), party leaders K C Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh said the CWC has authorised Kharge to give final approval to the party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls and decide a date for its release.

Pakistan: Imran Khan's party announces nationwide protests on March 10 against 'stealing' of mandate

Islamabad, Mar 5 (PTI) Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party on Tuesday announced that it will launch nationwide protests on March 10 against the "stealing" of the mandate, nearly a month after an inconclusive general election marred by allegations of vote rigging.

"We will unite all political forces and will launch a movement within the law and Constitution," said former National Assembly speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser while speaking to the media here.

Sri Lankan Gov’t To Absorb National Airlines’ 510 Million USD Debt

COLOMBO, Mac 5 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lanka’s cabinet, approved a proposal to absorb SriLankan Airlines’ outstanding debt of 510 million U.S. dollars, by the government, a minister said, today.

Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation, Nimal Siripala de Silva, told the media that, the cabinet approval was also given to allocate funds to maintain services of the national carrier for another six months.
