22 March 2022; MEMO: A full-fledged Burn Treatment Centre opened on Tuesday at a mega hospital in the Turkish metropolis, Istanbul, with its Chief of Medicine calling it Europe's largest, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Speaking at the Centre's opening ceremony at Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital, Dr. Nurettin Yiyit, said: "Today, we are opening this Centre to be the biggest in Europe."

"At the same time, we're also opening a Centre that is ideally prepared to treat burn patients from across the world," he added.

Des Moines (Iowa), Mar 19 (AP) The confirmation of bird flu at another Iowa egg-laying farm will force the killing of more than 5 million chickens, state officials said Friday.

It's the second confirmed case of avian influenza in Buena Vista County, about 160 miles (257 kilometers) northwest of Des Moines, but the latest outbreak is at an operation with 5.3 million chickens. The earlier case was at a farm with about 50,000 turkeys.

16 March 2022; MEMO: The Turkish German couple who developed the first coronavirus vaccine are the latest recipients of Germany's most prestigious medical prize, DPA reports.

According to the report, the two scientists, Özlem Türeci, and her husband, Ugur Sahin, were awarded the prize named Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter.

Aurangabad, Mar 11 (PTI) The administration in Maharashtra's district has started the "no vaccine no fuel" campaign to ensure that people have taken the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, an official said on Friday.

Following a joint meeting with petroleum dealers' association, the administration has commenced the drive across the district, the official said.

New Delhi, Mar 3 (PTI) Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday that governments should work to make healthcare free for all and not just a select few.

Addressing the CII Delhi State Annual Session 2021-22, the minister said the Delhi government is working on the "largest healthcare expansion plan of the world" with the construction of 15,000 new beds, which will become functional in the next one and a half years.

He said governments should take care of both the taxpayers and the ones who cannot afford quality healthcare.

New Delhi, Mar 3 (PTI) Citing the academic journal Science, Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday said the official number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the country is suspect.

The reputed journal estimates that the Covid toll in India between "1-6-2020 and 1-7-2021 was 3,200,000 - eight times the official death toll of 400,000", Chidambaram said on Twitter.

"Of these deaths, 2,700,000 occurred in the months of April, May and June 2021," he added.

Guatemala City, Mar 1 (AP) Health authorities in Guatemala say over a million doses of the Russian Sputnik coronavirus vaccine have expired, because nobody wanted to take the shot.

Francisco Coma, the country's health minister, said Monday that there was a rejection among the population toward the vaccine, even though a lot of Guatemalans remain unvaccinated.
