Pakistan’s exports to South China surge by 65% from July to October

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (APP): Pakistan has witnessed an extraordinary 65% increase in its exports to South China from July 2022 to October 2023, showcasing the nation’s growing influence in the region, said Muhammad Irfan Trade & Investment Counsellor at Pakistan Consulate in Guangzhou.

The surge in trade is particularly notable in key provinces, including Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Hunan, which experienced remarkable growth rates of 194%, 3%, 64%, 53%, and 117%, respectively.

Pakistan takes significant steps to attract Chinese investment in e-commerce

BEIJING, Dec 8 (APP): Pakistan’s government has taken significant steps to facilitate cross-border e-commerce and attract foreign investment, especially from the Chinese investors, said Shaikh Muhammad Shariq, Vice President of National Bank of Pakistan and Chief representative in China.

China starts up world's first fourth-generation nuclear reactor

BEIJING, Dec 6 (Reuters) - China has started commercial operations at a new generation nuclear reactor that is the first of its kind in the world, state media said on Wednesday.

Compared with previous reactors, the fourth generation Shidaowan plant in China's northern Shandong province is designed to use fuel more efficiently and improve its economics, safety and environmental footprint as China turns to nuclear power to try to meet carbon emissions goals.

Belarus leader hails ‘reliable’ friendship with China

BEIJING, Dec 4 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko hailed his country’s “reliable” friendship with China on Monday as he held talks with counterpart Xi Jinping on his second trip to Beijing this year.

Lukashenko, a staunch ally of Russia, arrived in China on Sunday for a visit expected to last at least two days.

He and Xi will discuss issues including “trade, the economy, investment and international cooperation”, his office announced on Sunday.

China's military: US Navy ship 'illegally' entered territorial waters

BEIJING, Dec 4 (Reuters) - China's military on Monday said a U.S. Navy ship illegally entered waters adjacent to the Second Thomas Shoal, a disputed South China Sea atoll that has recently seen several maritime confrontations.

"The U.S. seriously undermined regional peace and stability," a spokesperson for China's Southern Theater of Operations said in a statement, adding that the U.S. disrupted the South China Sea and violated China's sovereignty.

China is in disputes with several of its neighbours over its extensive claims of territorial waters in the South China Sea.

China's respiratory illness rise due to known pathogens, official says

SHENZHEN, China, Dec 2 (Reuters) - China's surge in respiratory illness is caused by known pathogens and there is no sign of new infectious diseases, a health official said on Saturday as the country faces its first full winter since lifting strict COVID-19 restrictions.

The spike in illness in the country where COVID emerged in late 2019 attracted the spotlight when the World Health Organization sought information last week, citing a report on clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia in children.

China hits back at West's de-risking strategy at supply chain expo

BEIJING, Nov 28 (Reuters) - China opposes protectionism and wants to strengthen supply chains with all countries, Premier Li Qiang said on Tuesday, as a growing number of nations voice concern at how much their supply chains depend on the world's second largest economy.

Li's comments comes amid calls over the past year from the United States and the European Union to reduce their dependence on China in certain sectors and "de-risk" their supply chains, as well as efforts to cut off Chinese enterprises from some advanced semiconductors.
