Brussels, Jan 28 (AFP/PTI) The EU will not ban Chinese telecom giant Huawei or any other company in Europe, a top official said on Tuesday, despite intense pressure from Washington to shun the firm over spying fears.

The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, will officially unveil recommendations to member states on Wednesday, but commissioner Thierry Breton told MEPs that Brussels will choose tight scrutiny over any blanket ban.

BRUSSELS, Jan 29 (NNN-Xinhua) — The European Union (EU) will study and assess the U.S. Middle East peace plan announced by the U.S. President Donald Trump, said Josep Borrell, EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, in a declaration.

The top EU diplomat pledged the EU’s “firm and united commitment to a negotiated and viable two-state solution”, reaffirming the EU’s readiness for resuming negotiations between Israel and Palestine.

BRUSSELS, January 28. /TASS/: The European Union has decided to expand its blacklists on Ukraine by seven more Russian nationals deemed responsible for holding an election in Crimea in September 2019, a representative of the European Union Council told TASS on Tuesday.

"Yes, I can confirm that the EU Council approved this decision," he said.

According to the EU representative, the council will soon officially announce the decision after which it will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and enter into force.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - French and German ministers warned there was little time to agree a new trade deal with Britain as they arrived on Tuesday for the last senior European Union meeting in Brussels at which the United Kingdom is represented as a member state.

Britain leaves the EU on Friday after more than four decades, setting the clock ticking to agree a new relationship encompassing areas from trade to security by the end of 2020.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - EU antitrust regulators will decide by Feb. 27 whether to clear state energy firm Saudi Aramco’s $69.1 billion acquisition of world number four petrochemicals group Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), a European Commission filing showed.

Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, announced the deal to buy a 70% stake in SABIC from the Public Investment Fund in March last year. It hopes the move will boost its downstream growth.

BRUSSELS, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said on Friday that the participants involved in the Iran nuclear deal have reconfirmed their determination to preserve the agreement.

Borrell made the statement ten days after the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom triggered a dispute resolution mechanism within the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) Joint Commission.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Seventeen WTO members, including the European Union and China, agreed on Friday to set up a temporary appeals mechanism to settle trade disputes after the United States paralyzed the WTO’s appeals body, the European Commission said.

Washington has paralyzed the WTO’s Appellate Body, which acts as a supreme court for international trade, by blocking appointments for over two years. Two of the body’s three members came to the end of their terms in December, leaving it unable to issue ruling.
