BEIJING, Oct 26 (APP): Trade and industrial cooperation between China and Pakistan under the umbrella of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is intended to make Pakistan a manufacturing and economic hub for the entire region, Commercial Counselor, Pakistan Embassy in China, Ghulam Qadir has said.

“Pakistan is ready to become a food basket for China, while Pakistan’s agricultural products to China are gaining popularity,” he said while addressing audience at “China-Pakistan Trade and Industrial Cooperation Forum,” jointly hosted by Embassy of Pakistan, United Bank Limited (UBL), Beijing Innovation Alliance (BJIA) and Economic and Commercial Counselors Alliance in China.

Pakistan, he said, had all the ingredients needed to become a regional hub and added, Pakistan hoped to improve its investment and increase its trade and economic ties, by making ‘made-in-Pakistan’ products.

” We are also working on different e-commerce platforms and we are bringing our enterprises to connect with Chinese e-commerce platform,” he added.

Emphasizing importance of the forum, Ghulam Qadir commented that such kinds of events would help the Pakistani enterprises interact with Chinese companies.

“Meanwhile, we can improve our yields by using Chinese technologies and methods. We can also export the finalized products to China and the world”, he mentioned.

Ghulam Qadir told CEN that he had a strong conviction that Pakistan had the ability to become a food basket for China, because Pakistan had fertile lands, a young population, and large number of resources available which was needed to boost its agriculture.

He further said that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Pakistan were offering special incentives to Chinese and international enterprises, where they could get a business-friendly environment with large inducements.
