Russia’s COVID-19 cases surge by almost 86,700 — crisis center

MOSCOW, March 5. /TASS/: Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 86,769 over the past day to 16,861,793, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Saturday.

In relative terms, the growth rate reached 0.52%.

As many as 9,295 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down 5.6% from a day earlier. The number of hospitalized patients declined in 51 regions, while in 32 other regions the figure increased. The situation remained unchanged in two regions. A day earlier, 9,849 people were rushed to hospitals.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases surged by 2,060 over the past day versus 2,463 a day earlier, reaching 2,709,040, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis center. St. Petersburg’s COVID-19 cases increased by 3,481 over the past day versus 3,422 a day earlier, reaching 1,456,195.

Patients' deaths

Russia’s COVID-19 death toll surged by 750 over the past day to 355,537.

A day earlier 776 COVID-19 deaths were registered.

The average mortality rate remained at 2.11%, according to the crisis center.

Patients' recoveries

Russia’s COVID-19 recoveries rose by 155,725 over the past day, reaching 14,418,916.

The share of patients discharged from hospitals has risen to 85.5% of the total number of those infected.

A day earlier some 160,507 patients recovered.

The number of patients undergoing outpatient treatment rose to 2,087,340.
