India: Trains divert from Kanpur as goods train derailed near Prayagraj

Kanpur: Trains have been diverted from Kanpur railways as an empty goods train derailed near Prayagraj early in the morning.

All the passengers trains have been cancelled and diverted on the Tundla-Kanpur-Tundla section on Friday.

This was apparently due to derailment of 24 wagons of empty goods train near Prayagraj on Friday morning, informs the North Central Railway.

According to the NCR sources, the train derailed between Ambiapur and Rusa stations at the Tundla-Kanpur section falling under the Prayagraj division at 4 a.m. today. This results in blocking the up and down lines.

Mohit Chandra, DRM Prayagraj Division, NCR said, "24 wagons were derailed. Both the up and down lines are disrupted. The restoration work is underway. We will try to complete it by midnight. Trains have been diverted from Kanpur."
