India: Waterlogged areas worsen situation in Kanpur

Kanpur: Since the past three days the city residents are witnessing heavy rains. There were some districts where more than 100 mm of rain has been recorded.

The torrential rains have waterlogged the roads in such a way that the roads are closed and people are finding it difficult to even get out of their homes.

Some are seen levelling the trenches. The car owners are not minding if the road users are getting dirtier by the dregs of the stagnant logged water splashing on their clothing. In such a grim and awkwardly situation, problems are going to increase.

The rains on Thursday alone have killed more than a dozen people in the state.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Farrukhabad district. Whereas, a red alert has been issued for rain in districts like Kanpur Nagar, Kannauj, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Hardoi, Nao, Aligarh and Banda.

Delhi still manages to reach the highest rainfall in 46 years. It has recorded 1,146.4 mm of rainfall so far this monsoon season, also the highest for September.

As regards Kanpur city areas the police were asking people to stay at safer places. People are not anle to leave their houses however old these may be.
