India: Husband strangles his wife to death with dupatta

Kanpur: A case of strangulation has surfaced on Sunday while the wife was allegedly strangled to death on Saturday.

It was reported that the crime was done soon after the two had sex.

The man allegedly strangled his wife with her dupatta.

The incident came to light when the woman's family members approached the cops and a complaint was filed.

The deceased woman was identified as Kanchan, a resident of Pari Ojha from Hamirpur. The accused was identified as Amit Lal who is said to belong to the Nasirpur village of Kanpur Dehat.

Kanchan and Lal got married around three years ago and were parents to a two-year-old son.

Allegedly, Kanchan constantly had fights with her husband and in-laws. It was alleged that the woman was tortured for dowry.

Owing to the harassment, the woman left her husband's home and stayed with her parents. The woman shifted on January 4, as was reported.

On February 2, the woman mysteriously went missing. Following this, a missing complaint was filed at the Kuchecha police out-post.

According to an investigation, the accused lured his wife to come to Hamirpur town to take money from him.

The accused allegedly took the woman to a field where he first had sex with her and strangled her with a dupatta.

The accused allegedly threw away the woman's phone in a river and hid her body in a field.

A probe was launched into the case and the accused was arrested who later confessed his crime.

The body of the deceased was recovered from the spot on Sunday and was sent for an autopsy.

The accused was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
