Russian, Jordanian FMs discuss bilteral ties, Syrian crisis

AMMAN, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held here on Thursday a meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which the two sides discussed, among others, bilateral ties and the Syrian crisis.

The Russian foreign minister said at a joint press conference that his meeting with Safadi was "fruitful," expressing the hope for more cooperation in economic, commercial, educational, and agricultural fields between the two countries.

Jordan temporarily suspends olive oil imports from Palestine

31 October 2022; MEMO: Jordan has decided to temporarily suspend olive oil imports from Palestine, a senior official at the Agriculture Ministry said yesterday.

Assistant Secretary-General for Marketing and Quality at the Ministry of Agriculture, Hazem Al-Samadi, said that importing olive oil from the Palestinian territories "is currently not allowed because we are in the middle of the local oil production season."

OSCE Mediterranean Conference Kicked Off In Jordan

AMMAN, Oct 25 (NNN-PETRA) – The Mediterranean Conference of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), kicked off yesterday, in Jordan.

The two-day event, convening representatives of OSCE’s 57 member states and its 10 Mediterranean and Asian partners, seeks to discuss common security opportunities and challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean region, according to a statement by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

Jordan FM, UN Envoy Discussed Political Solution To Syrian Crisis

AMMAN, Oct 20 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, and UN Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, yesterday, discussed means to reach a political solution for the Syrian crisis.

During a meeting in Amman, Pedersen briefed Safadi on the UN-led efforts, to resolve the crisis, as well as, the outcome of talks held in Syria, according to a statement by the ministry.

Safadi stressed Jordan’s support for the envoy’s efforts towards reaching a political solution in Syria, in accordance with the relevant UN resolution.

Jordan FM calls for collective Arab role in resolving Syria crisis

20 October 2022; MEMO: Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has called for a "collective Arab role" to resolve the Syrian crisis and "end the catastrophic situation" in the country.

In a meeting held yesterday with the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Safadi highlighted that the situation in Syria has become intolerable; given the suffering it causes for the Syrians and the negative repercussions on the region, especially neighbouring countries.

Jordan Hosted Diplomatic Bazaar To Raise Fund For Underprivileged Children

AMMAN, Oct 16 (NNN-PETRA) – The 58th Annual International Diplomatic Bazaar, kicked off in the Jordanian capital, Amman, yesterday.

The one-day event, which was held offline, after a two-year hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is a platform for diplomatic missions to sell products of their home countries, to raise fund for children, at Mabarrat Um Al Hussein, a Jordanian charity that provides education and shelter for orphaned and underprivileged children in the kingdom.

Jordan Voiced Regret Over Failure Of Yemen’s Truce Renewal

AMMAN, Oct 10 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan, yesterday, expressed regret that the truce in Yemen was not renewed, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The truce, which originally came into effect in Apr, 2022, and expired on Oct 2, has helped in alleviating Yemenis’ suffering, notably by providing humanitarian assistance, the statement quoted ministry spokesperson, Haitham Abu Al Foul, as saying.

The spokesperson also reiterated Jordan’s support for efforts to end the Yemeni crisis, through a political solution, based on all agreed-upon initiatives.

Jordan, Egypt Agreed To Increase Cooperation In Mining, Petrochemicals, Energy

AMMAN, Oct 4 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Egypt yesterday, agreed to increase their exchange of expertise in the fields of mining, petrochemical industry, oil and natural gas, according to a statement by Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

During a virtual meeting, a technical committee of officials from the two countries also agreed to prepare a timetable, to support each other’s scientific and technical needs, to help develop natural resources, stimulate investments and boost economies.

'Arab normalisation encouraged Israel's aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque': Jordan MP

1 October 2022; MEMO: Head of the Reform Bloc in the Jordanian Parliament, Saleh Al-Armouti, asserted on Friday that Arab normalisation with Israel has encouraged its aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Speaking to Felesteen newspaper, Al-Armouti also stated that the security cooperation between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Israeli occupation encouraged the Israeli occupation's aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
