OSCE Mediterranean Conference Kicked Off In Jordan

AMMAN, Oct 25 (NNN-PETRA) – The Mediterranean Conference of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), kicked off yesterday, in Jordan.

The two-day event, convening representatives of OSCE’s 57 member states and its 10 Mediterranean and Asian partners, seeks to discuss common security opportunities and challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean region, according to a statement by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

During the opening session, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, stressed the importance of the conference, in advancing cooperation, addressing common challenges, and agreeing on methodologies to deal with security challenges and achieve regional stability.

Issues related to the role of youth in enhancing security, climate change challenges, human trafficking, women’s economic empowerment, common security in the Mediterranean region, and the protection of refugees, are to be discussed at the event.
