1 October 2022; MEMO: The Jordanian government announced, on Friday, the adjustment of oil derivatives prices, lowering the price of octane 90 and 95 gasoline by 60 fils ($0.08) and raising the price of diesel and kerosene by 35 fils ($0.05) for October.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the oil derivatives pricing committee decided to lower the price of octane 90 and 95 gasoline after applying the pricing equation to the price of gasoline according to global prices.

29 Sep 2022; MEMO: The opening of the Karameh crossing between Jordan and Israel for operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has been postponed, US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides said during a press conference held in Jerusalem yesterday.

The opening of the Karameh crossing (The Allenby/King Hussein Bridge) was postponed from the end of this month to the end of next month, Nides noted, adding that he was informed that the crossing will open around the clock for a trial period starting 24 October.

27 Sep 2022; MEMO: The agriculture ministers of Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria have agreed to support an initiative to boost food security in the region.

According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Jordanian Agriculture Minister, Khalid Hneifat, yesterday held a meeting with his Syrian counterpart, Muhammad Qatna, Iraqi Minister, Muhammad Khafaji and Lebanese Minister, Abbas Hajj Hassan, in which they discussed the need to resolve issues surrounding the region's food security amid worsening global events.

24 Sep 2022; MEMO: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned against the UK moving its embassy to the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Late on Thursday, in response to journalists' questions regarding the announcement by British Prime Minister Liz Truss's office that it was considering moving the location of its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, Safadi announced: "No official decision has been issued yet in this regard."

AMMAN, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Jordan has resumed crude oil imports from Iraq after the Iraqi side fixed the logistical problems that suspended the supply for weeks, said Jordan's Energy Ministry on Monday.

Trucks have started loading the crude oil from the oil fields in Kirkuk governorate in northern Iraq, Jordan's Minister of Energy Saleh Kharabsheh said in a statement.

The ministry said that Jordan imported about 2.525 million barrels of oil from Iraq between September 2021 and July 2022.

18 Sep 2022; MEMO: Jordan's foreign minister said a recent agreement with the US will contribute to his country's economic reform program, media reports said Saturday, Anadolu reports.

Ayman Safadi said the fourth US-Jordan Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership (MoU) signed Friday in Washington "will contribute to supporting the economic reform program," according to Jordan's official news agency Petra, which quoted Safadi.

AMMAN, Sept 15 (NNN-PETRA) – The death toll in a residential building collapse in Jordan’s capital, Amman, on Tuesday, rose to eight, the Public Security Department (PSD) said, in a statement yesterday.

Rescue work is still going on, the PSD added, noting that, an infant and an injured person in his 50s were pulled out from the rubble of the collapsed building and transferred to hospital.

So far, 16 people have been injured due to the collapse, it was reported.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — Jordanian teams on Wednesday rescued one person alive and worked to save other survivors of a building collapse in the capital Amman, officials said. State media said at least five people have been killed and at least 10 others remain missing.

Amer Sartawi, a security spokesman, said eight people also have been injured and one survivor had been rescued Wednesday from the rubble of the residential building.

The four-story structure collapsed on Tuesday for reasons that remain unclear. The country’s prime minister has ordered an investigation.
