Jordan Condemned Israel’s Announcement To Build New Settlements

AMMAN, Mar 26 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Foreign Ministry, yesterday, condemned Israel’s announcement, to offer tenders for building over a thousand new settlement units, in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Sinan Al-Majali, said in a statement that, constructing these units constitutes a clear violation of international law, notably Security Council Resolution 2334.

He emphasised that, Israel’s settlement policy undermines the foundations of peace and efforts to achieve a two-state solution, based on international legitimacy.

Jordan Parliament approves proposal to expel Israel envoy amid tension

Fall of Bakhmut would not mean Russia has turned tide of war - Pentagon chief

AMMAN, March 6 (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Monday that the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut was of more symbolic than operational importance, and its fall would not necessarily mean that Moscow had regained the initiative in the war.

The battle for Bakhmut has raged for seven months. A Russian victory in the city, which had a pre-war population of about 70,000 but has now been blasted to ruins, would give Moscow the first major prize in a costly winter offensive.

Jordan hosts Palestinian-Israeli talks amid tensions

27 Feb 2023; MEMO: An emergency security meeting was held in the Jordanian city of Aqaba on Sunday to discuss de-escalating tensions between the Palestinians and Israel, Anadolu reports.

The Israeli delegation to the meeting was led by Tzachi Hanegbi, the head of the National Security Council and Ronen Bar, the head of the Shin Bet domestic intelligence service, while the Palestinian delegation was headed by Maj. Gen. Ghassan Alian, the coordinator of government operations in the Palestinian territories.

Jordan Launched A 200-Megawatt Solar Power Plant

AMMAN, Feb 26 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordanian Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, yesterday, inaugurated a 200-megawatt solar power plant in the capital Amman.

Being Jordan’s largest solar energy project, the plant is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, Masdar, and the Finnish investment and asset management group, Taaleri.

Jordan: Israeli missile strikes building in central Damascus, five dead

AMMAN, Feb 19 (Reuters) - An Israeli rocket strike early on Sunday hit a building in central Damascus, killing five people and damaging several buildings in the densely populated district, witnesses and officials said.

The strike hit near a security complex around which Syria's ally Iran has installed bases, two intelligence sources said.

An Israeli military spokesperson declined to comment.

Jordan: UN official warns of rising earthquake death toll in Syria

AMMAN (AP) — The United Nations humanitarian coordinator for Syria said Thursday that the country’s death toll from last week’s deadly earthquake is likely to rise further as teams scramble to remove rubble in hard-hit areas.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Muhannad Hadi defended the U.N.’s response to the disaster, which many in Syria have criticized as slow and inadequate.
