New Round Of Talks Started Between Yemeni Gov’t, Houthi Rebels In Jordan

AMMAN/SANAA, Jun 17 (NNN-PETRA/SABA) – Negotiations started in Jordan’s capital, Amman yesterday, between the Yemeni government and the Houthi rebel group, under the patronage of the United Nations.

In the two-day talks, the delegations from the two sides will discuss the issue of exchanging prisoners and seek solutions to the obstacles to the implementation of a previous agreement in this regard, a well-informed Yemeni source, said.

Jordan, Egypt Signed Deal To Boost Gas Infrastructure Cooperation

AMMAN, Jun 11 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Egypt, yesterday, inked an agreement, aimed at bolstering cooperation in the realm of gas infrastructure.

As per the deal, Egypt will utilise the floating storage vessel, located at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Port in Aqaba, Jordan, for gas processing. In return, Jordan will receive liquefied natural gas from Egypt and will, when required, pump back a portion of the natural gas through existing pipelines between the two nations.

AMMAN, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Egypt Saturday inked an agreement aimed at bolstering cooperation in the realm of gas infrastructure.

UN organization declares Jordan regional medical tourism center

AMMAN, June 8 (Xinhua) -- The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) announced on Thursday that Jordan is a regional center and destination for medical tourism in the Middle East.

The announcement was made by its Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili during the opening of the UNWTO Medical and Hospital Tourism Conference at the Dead Sea, according to a statement by the Jordan Tourism Board.

Jordan's Tourism Minister Makram Qaisi said that the announcement is a source of pride through recognizing the status of the kingdom on the map of the region and the world.

Jordan: unemployment rate drops to 21.9%

01 June 2023; MEMO: Jordan's unemployment rate declined to 21.9 per cent in the first quarter of this year, compared to 22.8 per cent at the end of 2022, the Department of Statistics said.

In a statement issued yesterday, the department said the unemployment rate among males reached 19.6 per cent, compared to 30.7 per cent for females, in the first quarter of 2023.

The unemployment rate among university degree holders is about 25.8 per cent.

AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — Jordan’s highly anticipated royal wedding day got underway on Thursday with the surprise announcement that Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate had arrived to witness the nuptials of Crown Prince Hussein and his Saudi Arabian bride.

The attendance of the British royals had been kept under wraps, and was only confirmed by Jordanian state media a few hours before the start of the palace ceremony.

Jordan, Iraq To Renew Crude Supply Deal Of 10,000 BPD

AMMAN, May 5 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Iraq reached a deal yesterday, to renew the export of Iraqi crude to the kingdom under preferential terms, Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said, in a statement.

The deal was signed by Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al Kharabsheh, and Iraqi Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, in Baghdad.

Under the deal, Jordan will start importing 10,000 barrels of crude per day for a period of a year, starting from June, the Jordan News Agency reported, citing an Iraq Ministry of Oil statement.

Jordan weighs building nuclear reactors with Russia

AMMAN, April 26 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Jordan is weighing the possibility of building low-power nuclear reactors and is analyzing offers from specialized companies, including those from Russia, authorities said in this capital.    

Khaled Tukan, chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), told the Sputnik news agency that his institution is comparing technologies and expects to receive government approval to start negotiations soon.
