Jordanians Staged Mass Demonstration Against Israeli Killings Of Palestinians

AMMAN, Jan 28 (NNN-PETRA) – Thousands of Jordanians took part in a demonstration in the capital, Amman, to protest the killingS of Palestinians in Jenin by Israeli forces.

“The raids in the West Bank by the Israeli forces are unjustified, and innocent Palestinians were killed, including women and children,” said Mohammad Abu Freij, one of the demonstrators.

“We are here to show our support to our brotherly Palestinians, and to make our voices heard,” he added.

Netanyahu pledges to maintain status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque

25 Jan 2023; MEMO: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged on Tuesday to maintain the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Jordanian media and Israeli officials have reported. Netanyahu made the promise in a meeting in Amman with Jordan's King Abdullah II, who had stressed the importance of "respecting the historical and legal status quo" at the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa.

Jordan: protesters burn Swedish flag in front of embassy

25 Jan 2023; MEMO: Dozens of Jordanians protested in front of the Swedish Embassy in Amman on Monday evening and condemned Sweden for allowing a far-right extremist to burn a copy of the Holy Qur'an on Saturday in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, Al-Quds Al-Arabi has reported. The protesters set fire to the Swedish flag and images of the extremist, Rasmus Paludan, and insisted that attacking items held sacred by others is not "freedom of expression" as has been claimed.

Jordan Court orders Israel to pay $500,000 to Jordanian driver wounded by embassy guard

20 Jan 2023; MEMO: A Jordanian Court has ordered the Israeli embassy in Amman to pay $500,000 to Maher Fares Ibrahim, a Jordanian driver who had been shot, along with two Jordanians, by an embassy guard in 2017, local media outlets reported.

According to media reports, Ibrahim has filed a lawsuit against the Israeli embassy in Amman, demanding compensation for material and moral damages sustained following his injury by the Israeli embassy guard.

Jordan summons Israel Ambassador after Envoy blocked from Al-Aqsa Mosque

17 Jan 2023; MEMO: Jordan summoned the Israeli Ambassador on Tuesday to protest police obstruction of the Kingdom's Envoy during his visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied East Jerusalem, Anadolu News Agency reports.

In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said the Israeli Envoy was handed "a strongly-worded letter of protest to be delivered immediately to his government."

Jordan unemployment rate hits 23.1%

06 Jan 2023; MEMO: The unemployment rate in Jordan reached 23.1 per cent during the third quarter of last year, recording a 0.5 per cent increase from the second quarter.

In its quarterly report, the Department of Statistics indicated that the unemployment rate for males reached 20.5 per cent compared to 33.1 per cent for females, explaining that the unemployment rate for males decreased 0.2 per cent and increased for females by 3.7 per cent.
