India: Fire erupts owing to heated solar panel at KMC

A fire broke out on the first floor of Kanpur Municipal Corporation located at Motijheel here on Monday morning.

According to the news, when the solar system's panel was heated, a spark began to sprout that caught the wires into the fire. Sooner, the entire panel was burnt to ashes.

When the fire escalated, a fire broke out in the Caretaker department store located on the ground floor below the solar panels.

The KMC employees informed the Fire Brigade about the incident of fire. The fire brigade reached within 15 minutes and doused the fire in time.

India: KMC to demolish 429 dilapidated buildings

Kanpur: As many as 429 dilapidated buildings have been chosen to demolish in a meeting held at the Municipal Corporation building here recently.

The Municipal Corporation officials in a review meeting held at its Headquarters here on Friday regarding the demolition of dilapidated buildings have decided to initiate action.

The Chief Engineer said that 429 buildings in 6 zones have been selected as risky and dilapidated.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Engineer said that a notice has been issued for the early demolition of the dilapidated buildings.

India: Kanpur's Shivrajpur Fort had 5-Km long tunnel up to Ganga Ghat

Kanpur: On the direction extending from Kanpur to Kannauj and Bilhaur via GT Road, the district's Shivrajpur Qasba exists.

In this town adjacent to the banks of the Ganges, there was once a citadel (fort) of King Shivraj Dev of the Chandel dynasty.

Raja Sati Prasad had built a five-kilometre- long tunnel from the fort to the Ganga Ghat.

Shivrajpur was founded by King Shivraj Dev of in the year 1336. His big fort was told to be demolished by the British after the 1857 revolt.

India: Miscreants chop off minor girl's nose in Kanpur Dehat

Kanpur: A minor girl's nose was chopped off by the miscreants who had barged into her house and they were reportedly trying to pull her away with them.

The incident took place in Kanpur Dehat district on Thursday evening. 

They attacked the girl with a sharp weapon when she tried to raise an alarm.

The miscreants had been stalking the girl for the past several days.

The girl, profusely bleeding, was first taken to the district hospital.

Subsequently, she was referred to the Hallet hospital here for the needful treatment.

Kanpur:  Thursday remains relatively a day of solace from the intense heat and humid weather in June.

A mainly cloudy sky prevails and sparse rains went on with the temperature going at a lower level.

India: Cars, bikes gutted in fire at mattress factory in Kanpur's Naubasta area

Kanpur: A massive fire broke out in a foam mattress manufacturing factory in Devki Nagar under the Naubasta police station area here on Wednesday.

Soon the fire took on a formidable form that caused chaos in the area. The people of the area tried to control the fire but were not successful.

As soon as the information reached, about eight fire tenders reached the spot. The fire was brought under control after hours of effort.

Sanu, a resident of Babupurwa, was reported to be the owner of the factory in Devki Nagar.

India: Female leopard with cubs terrorise villagers in Kanpur's Katri areas

Kanpur: A female leopard has extended its terror in a range of ten Kms in Kanpur rural areas for the past five days.

Owing to the fear villagers of numerous villages are reported to have been avoiding coming to their fields. They are so terrified that their movement closes after evening.

The forest department team is trying to find it by bursting firecrackers and playing canisters in the forests.Searches are also being made in bushes and mud tunnels.

India: Two Nepali girls gang-raped in UP's Balrampur

Balrampur (UP), Jun 27 (PTI) Four men were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two teenage Nepali girls who had come to a weekly market in the Haraiyya area here, police said.

Superintendent of Police, Balrampur, Rajesh Kumar said the Gangsters Act and the National Security Act will be invoked on accused Ramchandra, Rajendra, Rakesh and Pintu.

India: Youth held for abducting, raping 14-year-old girl in UP

Ballia (UP), Jun 27 (PTI) A youth was arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a 14-year-old girl here on the pretext of marriage, police said on Monday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tiwari said the minor was abducted by the 19-year-old youth on June 17 in Bansdih.

The youth was arrested on Sunday, he said.

On the complaint of the girl's brother, a case was registered under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Tiwari said.

Chaos grips Kanpur-Sagar highway as fishes fall in collision

Kanpur: A strange sight was seen all along  Harbaspur village of Bidhnu on the Kanpur-Sagar State Highway on Monday morning.

Following the collision of two trucks, people stopped the vehicle and started looting fish.

The traffic on the highway also came to a standstill due to the chaos as the people looting the fish were uncontrolled on the highway.

The injured drivers were admitted to the hospital by the police. Further, the damaged vehicles were removed to normalise the traffic.
