Pakistan: Geneva Kashmir moot highlights plight of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in Indian, IIOJK jails

MIRPUR (AJK): Jul 02 (APP) : While voicing their grave concern over the continual illegal detention of Kashmiri prisoners in Indian as well as Occupied Kashmir’s jails, speakers at a seminar held on the sidelines of the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNCHR) in Geneva late Saturday, said that thousands of detainees lodged in different jails in and outside the Valley was getting worse with every passing day.

Pakistan: 10 killed in suicide attack at Pak police station in Swat Valley

Peshawar, Apr 24 (PTI) At least 10 people, including eight policemen, were killed and over 20 injured in a "suicide attack" at a police station in Pakistan's restive northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, authorities said.

The blast took place at the Kabal police station in Swat Valley.

The police station premises also has the Counter Terrorism Department and a mosque.

Pakistan court sends Chinese national to 14-day judicial remand on blasphemy charges; China says it's verifying reports

Peshawar/Beijing, Apr 18 (PTI) An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has sent a Chinese national to jail on a 14-day judicial remand on blasphemy charges in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province after he was arrested on Monday, media reports said on Tuesday.

The police arrested the Chinese national identified as Tian on Sunday and on Monday he was shifted to Abbottabad via an Army helicopter due to security concerns as the police feared local people could harm him.

Pakistan: Power transfer to LG representatives to help resolve people’s problems: Tanveer

MIRPUR [AJK]: Feb 13 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said on Monday that for the first time power had been transferred to the lower level through local government elections which would help solve the problems faced by the people at the grass-roots level.

“The government will provide all-out support to the elected representatives and fully empower them”, he said in a statement.

Sardar Tanveer said he believed in upholding democratic and moral values, however, he would ensure strict discipline in the party.

President Biden pens down letter to Kashmiri leader, says promoting ‘freedom’ integral part of US policy

MIRPUR (AJK): Nov 06 (APP): US President Joe Biden has said “defending democracy, promoting freedom, human rights, respecting the rule of law and treating everyone with dignity are the important part of core values of foreign policy of the United States and American society”.

The US President Biden expressed these views in his recent letter to Raja Muzaffar, a Washington-based veteran Kashmiri leader, according to a message released to the media, here, on Sunday.

Pak: KGC urges WHO and UN to ask India to release Kashmiri political prisoners from overcrowded COVID-riddled Indian jails

Pakistan: AJK President condemns ill-treatment towards jailed Kashmiris in Indian prisons

MIRPUR (AJK): Apr 30 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan while condemning the inhumane treatment of 174 political leaders and thousands of political activists lodged in occupied Kashmir and Indian jails on Friday demanded their immediate and unconditional release.

“The deteriorating health of the some of these prisoners of conscience and threat posed to their lives is a matter of serious concern,” he said and demanded immediate release of all these detainees.

Pak: Peace cannot be established on dead bodies of Kashmiris, AJK President:

MIRPUR [AJK]: Apr 12 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan on Monday said that we want peace in the region but peace could n’t be established on the dead bodies of Kashmiris.

“If India desires peace,it will have to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiris and international principles,” Masood emphasized.
